Day 5 4.08.11
Hey everyone,
Pulling open the curtains to SHOCK HORROR to find the skyline hidden by the grey clouds, (but no need to worry welshies the sun made an appearance at approximately 12.01 pm), we began for the day ahead. Once we had met in the corridor to check we were identical from head to toe, matching hairbands, ribbons, welsh tattoos, socks at the right height (4 inchs from knee), we were ready to face our first world cup battle.......THE SCOTS!!
After a brief lunch at the clubhouse where the nerves began to develop among the team, it was time to pick up our sticks and start stickyworky on the warm-up pitch.
2.21pm - Welsh team makes their way to the changing room with BOOM BOOM BOOM LET ME HEAR YOU SAY WALES echoing round the stadium.
2.34pm - Welsh team stick-checks.....passed tick.
2.52pm - Welsh team sings national anthem (smiles check, tears check, singing out of time check, singing out of tune check, awkward handshake check). But overall a good start!!
3.00pm - FIRST WHISTLE
After a shakey start with several parents on the edge of their seats, nervous that the scots had rattled the welshies, we soon turn things around. From 5-3 half time score to us to a final score of 15-10 to the mighty welsh dragons! Exciting to say that no-one thought that they played their best but we still managed to pull off a win!!! Next match we are sure to play the welsh way and the best of our ability!!
BRING ON THE CZECHS THIS EVENING!!!
p.s a HUGE congrats to Miss Iona Dryden who won the first MVP of the world championships for playing incredibly in the match against the scots!

Proud to say I created "A BOOM BOOM BOOM, A LET ME HEAR YOU SAY WALES... WALESSSSSSSSS!" And glad it has continued whoop whoop!! So proud of you girls, doing so well. Keep it up and kill it tonight! I think I will be coming out next week and have promised Gibby that if you do as well as I hope and expect and will wear a full dragon costume for the last game haha, if that's not enough to inspire you I don't know what is!! Good luck tonight whooooooooo.
